How to: Fit DX Satnav In Standard Fabia

Featured Replies

Just finished doing this upgrade, i'd say it's fairly easy overall, around 2 out of 5 difficulty.

Do this at your own risk, I take no responsibility for you damaing your own vehicle or any other faults!

This is to be used as a rough guide to show whats involved, not a step by step guide of what YOU should be doing.

I've seen a few guides now but nothing quite solid for retro fitting how it should be, more just plugging it in.

What you will need.

- DX Factory Satnav (code and disc)

- Plug and play wiring loom

- GPS Aerial

- All 3 Trims around the radio

Extras you might want

- Sub outs plug and wires

- Aux input cable

- Additional 12v for glovebox (charge iPod etc)

So as standard it should look somthing like this..

Start by removing the radio, storage tray and trims. The trims all just unclip, radio pins will remove the radio and the tray will pull out also.

You can then remove the plastic pieces from behind the radio and draw, this is mainly for ease of refitting as the extra wires take up more space.

As shown here (thanks Jars)

And them removed

You can then add the Outs cable for Sub and Amp wires with blue remote live

You can then add the plug and play loom, the black plug on the car should plug into the loom, then link into the back of the radio, the other longer thin plug should fit into the back of the radio.

image.jpg

You can then remove the glovebox to make room for all the wires

image.jpg

You can then feed the extra wires through for the Aux input (to use with any headphone jack) and for the satnav aerial

You can also feed this wire from the plug and play loom down the back of the radio, I belive its to link into the handbrake switch so you can't watch TV or Videos when driving

Without the glove box removed you can feed the wires down the side, should look like this.

The back of the radio looks like this

And with all the wires in place

With the glovebox and end trim removed, I've fitted the GPS aerial onto the metal frame behind the dash, it's magnetic so should stick to some of the bolts.

I also cable tied the wire in place to stop if falling and tucked the extra cable into the loom for the fans so it's hidden out the way

You can then push the radio back in place, carefully feeding the wires down the back

image.jpg

And then refit the trims and glovebox, I've linked my aux into a hole in the glovebox for now.

Nice work! Looks very good, didnt realise the skoda head u it came with that port for aux lead.

Thanks.

Yeah, it has on the options screen a choice for radio, trafic report, am / fm, aux, navigation.

It gives you the choice for audio or video if you wanted to buy a lead to play videos.
