THe door still opens from the outside. I'm pretty sure this is probably a simple fix but I'm not car savvy and was wondering what is causing this problem and what parts I need?  I might attempt to repair it myself else or at least I know what's involved before taking it to a garage.  My car has electric windows if that makes a difference.

Either the cable has snapped from the handle or has come off. There is a thread on here for replacing the door latch micro switch, that will give you an idea of what's involved.

It does sound like a cabling issue, I reckon thar plastic nipple might have popped off where it hooks on to the handle inside the door. That's probably more common than a snap or unhooking at the lock mech end but yes, check cable.

Stripping the door card off is easy enough I had to remove to look at a window problem I have and surprisingly easy.
