Going Rates for VCDS?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys!!

Come April time I'll be looking for three or four mods through VCDS. Im happy to pay a professional or an enthusiastic amateur off the site (if I can find one). Whats the usual kind of deal with this? Do you pay per activation? Lastly, I know this is cheeky, is there anyone Cumbria way who wants the job or do any of you know of a specialist in my part of the country?

All the best

Peter

If you look for the list of vcds owners (maybe Google "vcds owners briskoda") you will find a list the answer. Its a fair bet if they are listed they are willing to help. I slipped someone £20 to mod my car, he drove to my house and did it. Better than dropping £300 on the option or the cable IMO!

Thanks for that, I think I found the list a few weeks ago but anyone close hadn't been active for a few years. I'll maybe try sending some PJ's. Is happily pay good money if anyone nearby reads this ;)

Thanks guys, new phone is giving me autocorrect grief!! Preston wouldn't be out the question despite being in North Cumbria. I'll give that guy a shout!

You never know, he may well be planning a wee jolly in his car soon and meet you somewhere! Do your research as to what mods you want and it's always a good idea to try and find the coding for the guy doing it in case he doesn't have that mod in his list.

My dad met up with a member in Bentham who was actually passing one day, he nipped in on his way past and wouldn't take any money, my dad gave him a few beers from the fridge and bunch of flowers he had just bought my mum, told him to give them to his girlfriend who had sat and waited quite happily. Mum in the other hand demanded another bunch of flowers lol.

Some very nice and knowledgeable guys and gals on here.

Ha ha that's brilliant! All I'm after is things from the sticky post, such as my cornering fogs turned on, speed signs in the med etc. The stuff that should be there anyway to be honest. Thanks for sharing your experience, much appreciated!

Just for info, in case you haven't considered these options here is what i did to my car (it's a 13plate monte so quite a bit different)

Enable anti hijack

Enable 1 press unlock

Enable large MPH in maxi dot

Chirp on lock/unlock

Welcome/coming home lights

Increase comfort flash of indicators to 4 flashes

Enable hazards and brake light flash on emergency braking

Teardrop wipe front and rear

Horn active when ignition not on (very handy, in a car park when someone reverses towards you when you just get in the car you can warn them)

I can't think of anything else I did. Hope you get all your mods done!

If you have ordered a new car why not ask the dealer to set up your choices at the Pre Delivery Inspection?

In theory at the point of ordering the salesman should ask what you would like setting up.

Good thinking, I didn't even think about that. Mind you I think some of the members on here, yourself included are more familiar and competent with VCDS/VAG.COM

The dealer won't normally use VCDS. The same activations can be made using the dealer diagnostic tool

Depends on what you think it's worth. I find some people want to hand over a banknote, others ask what I like to drink and I say "red wine" and they give me a couple of bottles of something. No set rate for these things, it's a gesture of thanks for someone giving up their time to help.

As has been said if someone is planning a trip.....

I once did some tweaks on a yeti in Stafford on my way to France so someone is bound to be within reach at some point.

Hi I never actually thought to ask as I didnt think the dealer would do anything to alter the car beyond its spec. I know the SEAT lot wouldnt even entertain the idea.

Well we do like Edinburgh! I just need to find someone, I'll pay a good rate!

SEAT should have offered. I made up a tick list for the salesmen for common user options and that was added to the paperwork which came through to us with the job card. We already have the diagnostic machine connected so setting up convienance options only took a few minutes.

Harpers in carlisle have ex VAG franchise mechanics and all the VAG gear and their labour rate is about half what the main dealers charge
