Octavia 81kw Cold starting problem after cam belt change.

Featured Replies

Hi,I have just had the cam belt changed at the local garage last week and now the car is very difficult to start when cold .When it does start there is a large cloud of smoke .I didn't have this problem before the belt change .I tried to find fault using VCD Lite and didn't find any.Is it possible to cheque timing with VCD Lite ? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yeah, I'd check the commencement of injection values, sounds like it's out to me.

Better still take it back and get them to redo it.

Hopefully it just needs a tweak on the cam pulley to bring in back in spec.

If the cambelt is off by a tooth they have seriously messed up, it's not that difficult to turn the engine by hand and check all the marks line up after its been changed

It will be the fuel pump that needs tweaking.

Thanks for the reply. I have taken the car back to the garage and asked them to check the timing and they said its ok. but i still have the same issue ? Is there a way to check the pump timing using the VCDS lite ? Does any one know who can check it and adjust it ? Thanks again .
