Boot liner for hatch

Featured Replies

I've just ordered myself a custom dog cage that will fill around 50% of the boot in my LE hatch and now also want to get a liner to protect the carpet.

Been looking at the usual suspects like hatchbag and the rigid liners (company name escapes me), but something I can't really tell from online images is whether I will still have access to the tie down points in the boot?

I want to be able to tether the cage to the floor to ensure it doesn't come through the cabin should the worst happen, and I'm not keen on having to make any cuts in what is an expensive custom liner.

Anyone here have one and can check for me? Alternatively recommendations are welcome. Skoda do a decent looking waterproof liner but it is supposedly for the estate only (may well still fit but in guessing the bumper protector won't)

Go genuine, I've had two of these, one in my old vRS hatch and one in the current estate.

They aren't cheap but are extremely durable, and being a genuine Skoda item they fit like a glove and have the holes in them for the tethering hooks.

There are a couple on eBay for between £50 and £60 but I paid around £40 for mine a few years ago. They do crop up cheaper from time to time...

This other one is for the estate but it shows the holes for the tethering points...

They hold spills well too, there are fine channels that run the full depth of the mat that hold liquids, you therefore don't need the huge lip around the sides that some aftermarket mats have. It's just a very well thought out mat, but with a price to match!

By the way, for what it's worth there are two different versions with different part numbers, one for the hatch and one for the estate but I can confirm (after owning a hatch and estate at the same time) that there is very little difference in terms of the dimensions, an estate mat will still fit quite nicely in the hatch etc.

I've actually already got one of those, but what I want us complete coverage including the sides - or at least partially up the sides.

Even with a cage the hair can get caught in this carpet at the wings and rear bench otherwise (I have always found anyway)

It's a toss-up for me between protecting the carpet side walls (two black & white dogs!) and not having the car look like a builders van when I'm not carrying the dogs. Just picked up an OEM mat (plus 3 nets) for £25 off eBay, and very happy with it.
