Thumbs up for Ross (Tech1e) on retrofitting my cruise control this morning

Featured Replies

Finally got around to getting it done today, I supplied the kit and he fitted and activated it for me, works perfectly and the car is so much better to drive on longer journeys and also just normal drives

I recommend him to anyone who wants the same done, he can supply and fit usually, I already had the kit before I got in contact with him so he just fitted mine for me.

No problems mate, nice to meet you.

I want to do this mod on my vrs. How easy is it to fit and what did the parts set you back?

Easy for me, how skilled are you? Do you have VCDS?

Parts are £65-£80 depending on where you shop.

I've done this myself ( and this was the correct way noting going back to when ECU connection was assumed out of warranty ).

Complexity I'd say 4/5 and shouldn't be handled by the inexperienced, you have to be very competent with electrical wiring, it just isn't worth the hassle !

Even the basics like removing the steering wheel, handling an airbag, ensuring the wheel is central on removed but put on exact the same way as removal,

things you need to ensure.

Hence I'd recommend any doubts whatsoever use Tech1e to be honest, its quite a hassle, for the sake of whatever it is (just cost of parts again I assume).

Then again, if you've done cruise like this before on other cars, and can follow the old instructions that were on the old fabia site, shouldn't be entirely that difficult for you.
