my problem is my wipers are the bosh AM980S and they were new in November 2015.  They squeak at the top and then chatter down.  took them back to Halfords and they have no idea on what the problem is.  I have no wax or anything on the windscreen.

 

Please help people!!!!!

There is something on the screen.

 

Mine do this too, I was adamant there was nothing on the screen but after giving it a good clean with a proper glass cleaner all was back to normal.

 

I recently used a jet wash at a local petrol station and I think the first few seconds of the high pressure spray had some remnants of wax in it.

Kitchen/bathroom creme cleaner works wonders on cleaning up glass, just rinse well to clear powdery residue.

Be sure to lift wipers and clean wiping edge. Change brand/strength of washer fluid.

As above try cleaning the glass, and also clean the wiper blades with vinegar.

Get some valeo silencio blades and hey presto no more noise. After trying fixes above
