Thinking of upgrading turbo

Featured Replies

Alright lads and ladies, I've had my vrs remapped and everything is fine, turbo seems healthy and is coping well. However, I can't stop feeling that it'll give up the ghost at some point and I've been thinking about more power too. I've seen a used hybrid pd150 going cheap but the owner isn't sure how many miles had been done on it before he bought it. Is it worth a gamble? Also, would any seat fr turbo fit in a fabia? Any help would be awesome! Cheers

What's your budget? How much power would you be happy with.

Talk to xman on here for turbos I wouldn't risk a used one with no history.

Looking for modest gains. 170 at the moment is nice, but I suppose 200. Budget is the thing, seen pd150 hybrid turbos for 100 quid but of course I've no clue about the history. Car's close to 70k with standard turbo and I had it remapped about 5k ago.

Cheers lads, have pm'd xman to see what he reckons...

170 is pushing it for the standard turbo. A standard pd150 will give you 180-190bhp and can be picked up quite cheap second hand. You'll benefit from a FMIC and of course bigger brakes as the standard 288mm are barely good for 130 lol.

My standard turbo ran 180hp with a shark stage 1 map before going pop after a track day. it had covered 120k miles however so i wasn't surprised!

I went for a pd150 hybrid new from turbo dynamics which was ideal because it bolts straight on and gives a nice drive with boost coming on at around 2200rpm and pulling strong all the way to 4750 where my limiter cuts in

If you go for a bigger turbo youll have to pay again for it to be mapped to take advantage of it :)

Just what I was after, Thanks lads.

As said FMIC would be best, maybe look at getting some pd150 head bolts fitted to stop the head lifting!

It really is a slippery slope! I don't want too much power, are 2nd hand fmic's easy to come by?

Seat Sport ic on a Facebook group currently , with 'part pipe work' whatever that means, think it was up for £120? I'll double check now :)

£170* it was in Leeds.

There are usually some going on EBay for reasonable prices. You should also keep an eye on the parts for sale section on the forum.
