MPI Cam Sensor Part Number and Location?

Featured Replies

Hi all, suspect that my camshaft sensor might be on the way out as warm starting is getting worse (cold starting happens instantly even when below freezing, but hot starting takes a full second of cranking). No codes logged though.

Where is it located on the MPI please, and does anyone have the part number? Finding conflicting info on that part number online as usual...

Thanks!

What year and engine code? Near the oil filter I seem to remember.

047907601 seems like the one.

Cam, third from last in the long list of item 8's here. Seems to be same for all years and all engine codes of MPI as far as I can see?

Great, thank you!

No problem. I'm a bit mystified as to why ebay doesn't show any results for that part number though, unless I've got some very restricted search settings accidentally. :wonder:

Yeah I'm not seeing any on there either. Also, if you stick that number into Google, they all say crank sensor, but the MPI crank sensor is 047906433. This might need me to go and remove the sensor to find the part number I think....

Also confusing is that some of the sensors on eBay claim to fit only the 16v 1.4, but my Haynes manual claims that there is no cam sensor on the 16v

This is reassuring regarding the part number and 'reassuringly expensive'. Might be worth trying TPS or Michael via [email protected] (see link at top of page).

My 1.4 16v has a cam sensor.

I ended up getting the one linked to by Wino above - local motor factors were unable to supply the right one. 047907601 is the correct part number, £35 from Skoda at the time of writing.
