So that means you would be better off insuring your car third party fire & theft?

If you're fully comp and you have an accident that's your fault when you pay your excess your car is also repaired or paid out for.

If you're third party your insurance company would only pay out to any third parties but your car wouldn't be repaired or paid for.

Going fully comp ensures that if the third party won't open up a dialogue when they are at fault, your insurance company will do it instead.

With third party fire & theft you still wouldn't be covered by fires caused by "wear and tear" in the above scenario.

Insurance companies in UK is a rip off! I have done hundreds of quotes choosing different option such as fully comprehensive, third party thief and fire and third party only.

The full cover always comes out the cheapest option. So they always makes you to buy full cover.

If you live in dodgy area and you trying to save some money by taking third party only it still is expensive not knowing why if basic option cover you only if you are involved in accident .
