interior lights sending SOS

Featured Replies

Hi Peeps, I could do with a bit of advice, a few months ago my central locking packed up, no problem I can still work everything from the key but just recently my interior lights and puddle lights have started flashing whenever I open the  door as if it is sending out an sos message and at the same time there is a clicking noise coming from the dashboard, this is one problem I have never heard of and wonder if the central locking problem could be linked to the interior light problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

I had this on my Octavia, so maybe the cause I had could be similar to yours?

It was the old favourite of water ingress into the wiring in the door.  My symptoms were the driver's door stopped working off the remote and the windows would wind down on their own for no reason.  Eventually, the interior light started flashing in a random manner whilst the central locking joined in for good measure.

I traced it to the connector block on the door loom within the door.  A pin had corroded which caused all the problems.  I bought a second hand door, stripped it for the bits and fitted the loom to the car.  It worked a treat after that and as far as I'm aware it still is - the car is on this forum somewhere.

Hope this helps,

Andrew.

Hi  Andy, that sounds pretty logical to me, it's getting so bad with the lights that people think i'm a mobile disco !

Almost forgot to thank you for your time and trouble,  cheers mate, Ian.
