Ad Blue......how much did you need to 'add'?

Featured Replies

For those of you with 190 engines, when your warning/caution message came up and you gave into the nagging, how much fluid did you put in?

Mine is now showing 1,600 miles to go....the caution should come on in the next 100 or so....and at present the system says 1-litre minimum, 2.5-litres maximum. As the tank holds 13-litres that seems a little odd (to me). Does the maximum figure go up as the countdown lowers or....?

I've ordered 14-litres, one is a 4-litre bottle with the correct hose/nozzle to prevent/reduce spillages and a spare 10-litre to refill it from.

Thought that mean you have a min of 1 litre in the car or at best 2.5 litres.

Before ordering, check this site for your local garage - http://www.findadblue.com/?gclid=COze4cDuncsCFbYV0wodz9YDvA which has it on the pump... then just top it up on say every 5 fuel fill ups. Saves messing.

Nearest garage round here with it 'at pump' is 15 miles away on the A14. Not very convenient......I did check before ordering as that would have been the best way I'm sure.

After 5,300 miles I think it will need more than 2.5 litres as it said I had 7,000 miles with a filled (according to the dealer) tank of 13-litres. I thought it said the minimum/maximum I could put in, not what was in there. I need to re-read the manual...............

How much is the ad blue at the pump?.

About £0.60p a liter from memory.

At my local station it's on the same pump as diesel so you can fill up both at the same time.

Seems the logical option to just top it up once every other months or so

For those of you with 190 engines

And those of us with 150 engines plus 4x4 ;)

Sorry, didn't know the 150 4x4 also needed DEF.

Interestingly the figures on the car have altered today to min 1 Gal, Max 2.25 Gal, and the warning has gone at 1,500 miles to go. Either I had a 'senior' moment, or the Maxidot changed formats when the warning went.

If there was a nearby station with a pump I would use it, but then only close one is on the A14 at Huntingdon with all the nearest garages around here selling it in 10-litre containers with no spout/funnel. I suspect it's because they aren't 'truck' friendly as that may be a driver to getting AdBlue pumps installed/available?
