135 or 136 or not

Featured Replies

HI All, being new to the site and new to Skoda, I must admit my first one seems pretty good.

96 N reg 70kmiles 1.3 glxi dark metalic green very clean and only a few spots where rust is starting on the wheel arches, full new zorst and 12 mot for

The 135 and 136 relate to the engine code. I think the major difference between them is the compression ratio, with the 136 having flat topped pistons giving a higher compression (increased power and torque) over the dome topped pistons of the 135 engine.

IIRC, all Felicias have the 136 engine.

As always, usual disclaimers apply!

Believe it or not, there is actually quite a big tuning market for the 1.3 engine, but don't expect significat gains without spending lots of cash. With an air filter, exhaust and performance plugs, leads and a chip, you are still only looking at a 5-10 bhp gain, which really isn't worth it imho. But get into serious engine work (porting and flowing the head etc), and 140bhp is achievable, albeit the piston rings will need changing every 5k miles!

As for the understeer, get some good tyres, and maybe some lowering springs... Also, a strut brace from a later (98 on) model could help stiffen things up.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like most isnt worth it, I use cheep disposeable cars for winter to keep my speed toy nice and warm over the winter.........plus an argument with a VOLVO 440 means my hip and leg are quite sore and stiff this weather.

The car is really pretty nippy for a 1.3 Which I didnt expect, so ill have a look for a 2nd hand brace, Id rather not lower it as the roads here are bit hellish speed bumps in my work make jeep drivers slow down, but a new set of rubber hoops might do the trick. think the clutch could do with adjusting as it wheel spins like mad in first and in second. the lights need sorting they are a bit low and theres not enough adjustment in the driver side to bring it up.

have had a little fun as being a biker I do like taunting the boy racers so played with a few and the little skip did really well up untill about 80 and the VTR saxo pulled off, the polo how ever gave up as a very poor third.

But realy need to do some thing about the front end slightest hint of acceleration mid corner sees you curbwards fast!

Don't know much about felicia's m8, but wilkommen as they say in deutschland.

So, 2 wheels, wotcha got??

Cheers

Thanks bud,

I have a FZS600 at the moment, K&N, Blueflame twin port EVO, and the full tarts handbag red andised probold kits, bars, pegs and end weights......shes my baby. Was never ment to be a longer term relationship but I cant get over how well she works the twisties up here.

I assume you have the rather nice Speed triple in your Sig nice machines! Recently gave a VFR800I back after a few month loan,, next I want to play with the older FZS1000 and Blackbird.

I had 5 Favorits  and a Felicia... they can be good fun.

The headlight adjuster is a known problem. Most people disconnect them, waste of time. Mine were disconnected at the dealer at MOT time.

They do wheelspin hard in the wet, the high revving engine has a lot to do with that. Some new tyres sure would help for sure.

So, what is your speed toy then?
