Just noticed that the MY16 Rapids here have slightly more powerful engines (90kw ->93kw) with better reported fuel consumption.   Anyone know what has changed to give this?  Is it just a different tune?

 

 

The 1,2 is a 3kw gain also, but a totally new unit with belt drive 16v head replacing the chain and 8v set up.

 

Can't find the info on the 1.4 changes but there has previously been a 93kw version in the Leon and Audi A3

The 1.4 TSI has a longer stroke and narrower bore than the old one and is very slightly up on power and torque (it boasts 125ps rather than 122).
I'm sure there are many other changes of which I wot not.

It is the improved economy that interests me, is it noticeably better in the real world?
