Some **** has keyed the paintwork...

Featured Replies

...oh well. Anyone used Chipsaway or a similar service? It's a standard bright red (can't remember what Skoda call it) and it's the bonnet, doors and rear wing.

Anyone ideas how much I'd be looking at, and does insurance pay for this sort of thing?

Aww, mate I feel for you - I know how I felt when mine was done. I had to have three panels resprayed because it was keyed too deep for the local chip/scratch fixers.

Cost me just under 300 quid from a local (non VW-approved) bodyshop. My insurance exess was 400 quid so I paid myself.

The local Skoda dealer quoted 800 quid for the same job - for some reason they wanted to remove the rear window to avoid overspray - what's wrong with masking it off??

Hope this helps!

I'll never understand why some people feel the need to vandalise other people's pride and joy. :finger:

the worst place for getting a scratch is in carparks, when all those halfwits, squeeze past your car with their handbags, shopping and what ever else they got. and other doors.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

i once had a new saxo vtr (for my sins) and someone thought it would be fun and run down the entire length of the road over the top of all the cars..... F***ing w****r.

£60 a panel from Chips away

:agree:

Sorry to hear that. I try and park my car as FAR away from other cars especially in the car parks (retail ones worst) with all those **** heads in a world of thier own and not giving a toss about anyone elses property. I'd sooner park streets away and walk.

i wouldn't advise having a bonnet resprayed by the mobile guys - you really want the paint sprayed in dust / contaminent free conditions (a spray booth) as you'll end up with dust/ element fallout in the paint/ lacquer.

I worked at a dealers that used these people to do bumper corners, etc - all looked fine at first then you'd see the cars when they came in for a service a couple of months later and the paintwork would be all patchy.

They use a heater fan to dure/ dry the new paint during which time more contaminents fall into it - i'd rather spend a bit more and have a proper bodyshop do the work.

well i came out of work tonight and some of Manchesters finest had spray painted 6 cars in the car park, and broken into another. NICE. Luckily, my car was no 7 and they left it alone.

They had painted something like BHPTC CREW all over the bonnets.

SCROTES.

Peace.

I completly sympathise with everyone on this as I have just been through it.

Last night a clownshoe in a beat up white transit cut across me on a roundabout in Worcester and hit me. The van drove off and I followed.

When I caught up with them and the stopped outside their house they denied everything (Even though I had a white mark on the door and she had a black mark on her wing) and got rather nasty with me. I gave them the opportunity to sort it out and was quite nice considering I have had the car from new and it is only 5 weeks old but they were not having any of it, so I left their abusive kiesters on the side of the road and went to the Police.

They were actually quite good and even took samples of the white paint off my door, so it will be proved that the van hit me and they could be prosecuted for driving away from an RTA.

It really amazes me. The simple act of exchanging insurance details has now given way to a situation where this nimrod could loose their license. Either way it will cost me in time and money to sort this and I can deal with that, but what I dont understand is the rank stupidity of some people. There was no need for it to go that far.

My insurance is with norwich union, and as far as i understand my policy gives me 60quid per panel to take a dint or some keyed paintwork back to new again without it killing my ncb. & also my dads passet got keyed same as yours and 400quid though an VW appoved bodyshop.(and his cars met black)
