2008 (08) PD140 Skoda Octavia Scout - 65,000 Miles

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just putting a few feelers out to gauge interest before I look to stick it on eBay.

2008 (08) Skoda Octavia Scout Estate.

  • Metallic black.
  • PD140 diesel.
  • 4x4.
  • 65,000 miles.
  • 2008 (08).
  • Full main dealer service history (fixed annual service intervals) plus more recent DIY interim oil and filter changes in-between services.
  • Cambelt and water pump changed on fourth birthday at a main dealer. Due again this summer.
  • Haldex oil changed at 40,000 miles, due again in 15,000 miles.

Standard Scout specification (rear parking sensors, cruise control, sunset privacy glass, auto lights and wipers, Climatronic, etc.) plus factory fitted xenon headlights.

  • Genuine silver dash trim (around the radio).
  • Genuine silver roof rails.
  • Genuine rubber boot liner.
  • Genuine rear door window blinds.
  • Miltec silver bumper protector.
  • Parrot hands free phone kit.
  • Witter detachable tow bar (only used a handful of times to pull a small camping trailer).
  • Carpet mats.
  • New Bosch S5 battery.
  • Facelift rear light clusters and 'Octavia' badges, plus latest black and silver grill badge (original suffered from whiteworm).
  • Full size spare wheel and jack (unused).

All four Proteus alloy wheels refurbished (weak diamond cut / polished finish removed).

Four Dunlop SP01 Sport tyres with good tread (only ever run on these tyres, currently on it's third set).

Had the Teeves MK60 ABS pump replaced whilst still under warranty plus a gas pressure sensor over the years. Had the rear bump stops replaced last year.

Never seen the DPF light, strong DMF (car never laboured) and no turbo whistle. Always driven gently from cold. Never held on the clutch at lights etc.

This car was planned to be a keeper, hence no expense has been spared. I work away from home regularly so this car had to be safe and reliable for my wife and kids.

A small change in circumstances means we need to upgrade one of our cars so (very) reluctantly the Scout may have to go.

£6,000.

More pictures to follow (this one was taken before I fitted the silver roof rails back in December)...

After a couple of requests here is the main dealer service history.

Please note I have also completed a few interim services myself too in-between the main dealer visits. The car hasn't gone further than 10,000 miles on the same oil, quite often less than 5,000 miles.

Quantum VW 507.00 oil always used too.

Is it a six speed? And cloth interior?

Thanks

  • Author

Hi, yes, 6 speed manual and cloth interior.

The gearbox oil was replaced a few years ago by the main dealer. No reason other than I'm a little bit obsessive about changing oils!

The Scout gets a unique seat trim, it is a kind of mesh, hard to explain, anyhow here is a library picture I found...

The deal on a new Scout was done today, delivery next month, so this Scout will definitely be going up for sale in the next few weeks.

Good luck with the sale Silver, hope she goes to a good home, she deserves it

As awesome as the car is.. I'm quite interested in that pump you've got for the oil change :notme:.

How easy is it to do the change through the pump? How much was it and how messy was it?

Very helpful. Thanks and GLWS!

Provisionally sold, deposit taken.

Having seen the eBay ad I'm not surprised! Someone is going to get a well maintained Scout with great spec for little money!

Not surprised at all, very tidy car

your ad was better presented than what many dealers list

  • Author

Thanks gents, the guy is a Skoda fan, he already has a high mileage Octavia 4x4 that his Dad will be getting when he takes delivery of the Scout and he works in a SEAT dealer.

Always nice to know your pride and joy is going to a good home!

+1 for the advert. Was very well detailed.

How long did that take you to write up?

  • Author

Only an hour or so, I spend too much time looking at cars on eBay and Autotrader and get frustrated with the lack of detail / effort.

I always thought if someone really wanted to sell their car they would put some effort in. I just put myself in my own shoes  :D

A couple of hours to wash and hoover, another 30 minutes to take the pictures, then an hour writing the description.

  • 3 months later...

I'm a sausage. Been looking for a Scout for a while now and saw yours on eBay. Now realising how good a deal/advert it was. Best Scout (and advert) I've found across the UK in the last three months :o)

I'm should hang around Briskoda more – and perhaps best place to offer my L+K Octavia when I make the swap. Thanks.
