Oil Filter for BMM (PD140) Octavia Scout

Featured Replies

Fellow Briskodians!

Have any diesel Scout owners on here seen their oil filter?

There are two types listed as available for the diesel Scout, one with a plastic stem and one without...

With plastic stem:

Without plastic stem:

I already know that the CFHC (CR140) engine in the Scout uses the filter WITHOUT the stem.

The question is which is suitable for the BMM (PD140) engine, anyone seen theirs when doing a DIY service?

Pretty sure it's the one with the stem, I'll try and check when I get home.

Hmm, when I ordered a service kit for my 2011 CR140 Superb (CFFB) earlier this year Rainworth Skoda sent me the wrong oil filter.

You can see it here, it has the stem (the Superb needs one without the stem, annoyingly only discovered after draining the oil - lesson learnt!).

I still have it in the garage, I wonder if I could finally find a home for it - in the Scout!?

It's a MANN MHL filter with part number: 045 115 466 B (HU719/7).

Might save me a fiver  :D

Interesting and can see why you got given the wrong filter for the superb. A google search found the 'hengst' applications for that number and it says it's for the BMM (amongst lots of others including the pd170 BMN). Was about to say that's the right filter for your Scout and then saw it also says it's for the CFFB superb.   :dull:

Suppose you could always take the oil housing cap off and gently lift the filter out without losing oil everywhere just to have a look at what filter is in there (stem or no stem).

Found it!

I did the sensible thing and checked the service invoices from the Skoda dealers that have serviced the car in the past.

They all quote part number: 071 115 562 C.

A quick Google image search shows it to be one WITH the stem...

It seems there are straight edged and wavy edged versions, although it seems to vary by manufacturer, both versions fitting and working just as well.

Strange as the filter in my garage with dfferent part number looks identical!

Wierdly the part number on the box (the one I need!) is different to the actual one on the filter...

Again here on the right...

So is filter part number 045 115 466 B the same part as 071 115 562 C?

The first number is on the filter, the second number is on the box.

I initially thought that this was why they'd sent me the wrong filter, the filter in the box didn't match the part number on the box.

Interesting and can see why you got given the wrong filter for the superb.

Not only he was lucky one. I went to car part shop and asked for the oil filter. I gave all the data possible and they were certain that the give filter was the one. Actually it wasn't...

I needed one without plastic stem for my Octavia.

Take a look for yourself at all the OE numbers that filter covers.

It's the filter I use in my VRs TDi too (BMN)

What a brilliant link (now saved as a favourite), thanks hatchy.

That has confirmed it then, 045 115 466 B is the same filter as 071 115 562 C

I already have the filter I need for the Scout in the garage, result, thanks gents!!

Looks like it is the right one. The picture on the ECP website has the same Mann part no. for the one I bought. The ecp part no is 501440289

Thanks trundlenut, good to know for next time, Eurocarparts are much cheaper than buying from a Skoda dealer, the the exact same (MANN) filters in a different box!

You can't go wrong for £4.55...

Frustratingly when I put my reg number in they offer both filters, with and without the stem, much confusion to be had. Thank goodness for Briskoda!

Definitely the one with the stem in my 2008 BMM engine Scout.

Your next problem will come with trying to get the correct fuel filter :D  :D

Just serviced the car today, what a cinch! Wanted to update this thread to confirm the oil filter was correct.

So my 2008 BMM engined Octavia Scout uses the filter WITH the stem, part numbers: 045 115 466 B or 071 115 562 C.

Also got to try out the Pela 6000 pump (didn't fancy dropping and refitting the thick steel engine undertray on the Scout by myself!).

What a revelation, see here...

I reckon I got all of the 4.3 litres out (each ring on the container represents 1 litre)...

Thanks for all the help!
