So another fault has seem to appear on my 1U, a rather loud rumbling noise, i opened up the bonnet and looked down and saw what i think it is, the tensioner has completely ripped itself off the mounting from the engine, not too sure how severe this is.

Yeah, it looks like its just sheared off from the end of the damper

Pretty common on the older diesels

If your car is a diesel I would check the alternator pulley. It has a one way clutch in it. If the clutch seizes up then it tends to kill the tensioner.
