Thread a suitable-sized screw into the hole in the centre of the inner cylinder, then pulll it out. Then thread a bigger screw into the remaining hole and pull the outer cylinder out. Haynes tells you the sizes, I think the smaller one might be M5?

I just pushed them out into the door then retrieved after it was off. although I did nearly forget and leave them there.

I'd go with Winos suggestion, especially when refitting as if you push it all the way through when refitting, you will have to remove the carrier again to retrieve.

The peg pops back in the window before installing and just push down.

You don't have to insert the peg back in with the regulator in place.

on the regulator there is a hole to put the peg through, meaning the reg pulls the window down, as otherwise surely you are relying on the window 'dropping' down albeit while resting on the peg? My rear windows did seem to easily 'drop' I had to push them down into the regulgtor even though I had wound it down a bit.

p.s- does the sound-deadening make much of a difference?

The regulator clamp is open at the top. You slide the glass down and it snaps into place. That's the proper way to do it

Ahhh I'd never noticed that before! Thanks for the Pro-tip!
