I have a few issues with my fabia

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a 2011 skoda fabia 1.2 12v s and I'm trying to figure out whether my engine/gearbox mounts are gone or going or whether my clutch is going or both.

My skoda has only done just under 35000 miles 12k while I've had the car and gearbox doesn't feel as smooth as it did and I'm sure the biting point as moved up and I sure the engine have dropped a bit on the nearside or is that normal.

Many thanks

Could be worth getting the lower gearbox mount, commonly known as the "dogbone" mount, checked.

It's easy to see if it's wearing or worn and fairly straightforward to replace with the reasonably priced VAG part.

Several members reported their 1.2 htp engines being installed on a slant, mine included. The offside end is considerably higher than the nearside. I posted an image, but since the briskoda search engine seems to be down I can't give you a link. It seems that this is quite normal and it hasn't given a problem in 6 years, though sometimes I wonder if it contributes to the poor fuel economy my car suffers from (due to drive shaft misalignment).
