Amundsen vs windows phone

Featured Replies

When I plugged my daughter's windows phone into the USB socket to recharge, it caused the Amundsen to shut down and reboot which took several minutes. It has done this before for the same phone. Any suggestions?

I can check it today with my setup...clash: Bolero vs Lumia 640.... Let's see what happens ;)

Happens on my Lumia 520 when its battery is very low. But not when the battery has a reasonable charge. My wild guess is that at some point the phone decides it needs a quick charge and draws so much current that the Amundsen crashes.

So the suggestion, obviously, is to get a USB socket that plugs into the 12v socket in the console.

Hmmm, never happened to me yet, Ive got Amundsen and a Lumia 635 and always use the USB socket. Maybe there is something on your Daughters phone that its trying to read and doesnt like?

Amundsen may be unsucessfully trying to connect the phone as a mass storage device?

Try using a charge only rather than the usual USB cable.

Glad it's not just me!  Daughter's phone is always out of charge due to excessive usage! I have started using a USB converter in 12V socket as suggested to separate it from the Amundsen. Weird though because it never does it with my Blackberry even when that has died completely.

Was hoping to get the satnav data updated but at that cost, perhaps not!

I took the car in this week because I noticed emulsion on the dipstick and was worried. (In the past this would point to head gasket problems!). Local dealers (Bristows, Ipswich) could not have been more helpful, topped up the coolant for no charge and sold me a litre of oil which they also put in.

I have now done 25K in 14 months averaging over 60mpg and am still on original tyres! (which have done 30K in total!)

I also ought to get the sat nav data updated at some point as it is now 2 and a bit years old. Will a dealer update the SD card for free, or is there some other way?

Nav update is DIY.  http://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/  You will need your VIN, the original SD card with the map data on and a computer on which you can download the update and transfer it to the SD card.

I have found it best if I copy the existing data from my SD card first as a backup, then delete it from the SD card before doing the update.  Beware if you are using a Mac that they can sometimes leave behind odd files on the SD card which confuse the Amundsen unit.

No problem with iPhone.  ;)
