Does the new Octavia have headlamp washers?

Featured Replies

The new octavia was just launched in India. Wat i noticed was that it did not have the headlamp washers like the old octy, instead it had two plastic tabs where the washers should be.

Are the washers embedded in the front bumper and come out when the xenons need washing and go back again?

Oh and another note got the Xenons on my RS adjusted....love the spread and they point right in the eyes of other drivers. Tested it by sitting in a car and asked my friend to drive towards me. And before ppl start badgering me, In India most ppl drive on their high beams ...so this should take care of them...hehe.....

But on a serious note ,thankfully for the sharp dropoff on the xenon lamp, as the car gets nearer, just before the point of blindind the opposite guy , the beam tapers off....so it's alright.

Might just get them lowered a bit anyway...

The washers should be inside the bumper and they pop up as and when required. It's easy to see them working with the headlights on - as for a few seconds it appears as though the headlights have been switched off as the washers block the light!

That's cool....another neat trick i would have liked my car to do.Unfortunately i just bought a black RS in sep.....and the guy at the dealership had told me that the new octy will not be launched in India till late next yr.

Only solace i have is that they have just launched the new octy in Diesel and in the L&K trim.

And also they dont call the new octy "Octavia" they call it the Skoda Laura

No way am i driving a car named "Laura"

Actually it's a royal PITB that it does this (i.e. the seemingly getting rid of the light output for a while).

It wouldn't be the first time this was seen as a 'stupid g*t behind me is flashing me to get out of the way' by someone in front of me. Haven't got the Octy but it's the same problem on the Fabia vRS with Xenons :(

Resorting to counting the number of times I've used screenwash etc to try and avoid doing this behind someone. Don't get me wrong, the washers are worth having especially with salt etc on the road, but the side-effect of 'flashing' other road-users is annoying to some people.
