Warranty expires

Featured Replies

A couple of questions here, my car warrenty expires end of January, so im gonna get it in to garage for checking over before it does (also get them to do MOT)

first off, I have had the problem of the clutch pedal sticking down, is there a service bulletin or anything about this that I can quite to the garage to get it sorted ? I have never bothered before its easy enough to pull the pedal up, but it needs sorting

Secondly, is there any other service bulletins or anything I should get them to do that I should be aware of to quote at them before the warrenty expires ?

Also I have been offered a Skoda extended 5 year warrenty for about £400 quid, is it worth having ???

The clutch sticking down is the clutch master cylinder and seems to be a common problem when the weather is cold, that should be done under warrenty before it expires.

If you have a VRS it may be worth your while asking them to check the Anti-roll-bar bushes. These commonly fail resulting in creaking and groaning suspension.

I imagine that if you were to tell them you had an intermittent creaking over slow speed bumps you'd get a new set of bushes*

* Just dont tell them you read that here as claiming for replacing good parts is naughty :P

Hi

There are bulletins being released all the time and they go to the service manager or the Warranty Claims Administrator.

But yes it is very common for the clutch pedal to go to the floor.

That was released when I worked at a dealer.

But they could also put it on their computer as this will tell them if there are any recalls.

That is 1 thing I think it good at a dealer (not many other things though ) your first MOT.

It can be done up to 28 days before an MOT is required if you take your reg document with you there will be 13 months on the MOT.

If it fails the majority of the problems will be covered under warranty.

Plus let them know of any minor problems that you have had in the past years.

I forgot to mention that you should get your car checked for error codes before the end of the warranty. If you get your car serviced by a dealer that should be part of the service. Otherwise it can be done quickly and easily by anyone with VAG-COM software.

All good points thanks :thumbup::thumbup:

its not a vRS but the anti roll bushes were replaced at last service, but it still has the front end creak when door is closed so im gonna get em to look at that

I will also get them to put it on the computer for fault codes

The clutch pedal is the one that is worrying me

I had my clutch master cylinder changed under warranty for a modified one. You are probably noticing the sticking problem more now that the weather is cold. It seems to be worst when the temperature is below zero.
