Price for new timing belt

I've booked my 1.6 102bhp Octy in next week for a new timing belt (60,000 miles) and they seem to think that around

my loooooocal skoda dealer dont even want that for my vRS!!!!!!!

Just had a look on autodata at work and it states 2.5 hours to change the timing belt. Not sure on prices for the parts. If you would like me to find out pm me your numberplate and I can get a price.

In case you think it is dodgy asking for numberplate etc, I work for a place called Mellors Elliot Motorsport and to order parts for cars we use the numberplate to get everything right!

My Vrs is going in tomorrow to the dealers for a timing belt, tensioners, water pump and aux belt. I have been quoted

Actually I also went to an independent VW specialist who is well able to do the work, for comparison purposes, and he quoted £290 for belt/tensioner/pump/ribbed belt, so maybe the main dealer is OK after all. Just a shock because when my 1.8 Passat needed a new one about 9 years ago it cost £75.

Anyway, I'll let you know on Wednesday what it costs.

Thats what I thought. Had it done today and it did go up a bit due to a cambelt rocker??? and anti-freeze, but still on par with the
