What the......???Help! Nasty metallic noise

Featured Replies

I have now had this nasty noise on two separate occasions and I'm after some ideas as to what it could be.

It's a metallic noise that sounds like youre driving over loose brick paving. Imagine a ball bearing rolling down a tiled roof (clinck-clink-clink). It happens at low speeds and sometimes going over bumpy bits of road at 30mph ish speeds. When at low speed it happens more than once per wheel revolution (maybe four or five times). Yesterday it made a graunching noise as I came to a stop but now it's fine and I can't get it to do it again!!!

I've had the wheels off, spun the hubs, (both straight and at full lock) checked for anything drastic, (loose tie rods, bearings, bushes, brakes exhaust etc) even checked wheel bolt tightness etc. but couldn't see anything at all.

My hunch is CVJ's or diff but I really have no idea. Nothing feels strange, just this HORRIBLE noise.

BTW this car only has 16000 miles on it. Any ideas anyone? I'm stuck!

Cheers
