None standard extras

Featured Replies

Hey,

My new VRS is (hopefully) ready for pick up in 2 weeks and I was wanting people's opinion on best none standard kit for their cars and why?

E.g. mud guards, different tyres, boot protectors etc.

My car is a quartz grey hatch, anthracite gemini's, front assist, park assist and heated seats.

I am looking to swap the chrome grill for black.

What else would others look to add?

Thanks

Don't know about the mud guards,

Tyres Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrical 2's for summer (I think there is 3's now but I've not tried these), Nokian D4's for winter.

Boot protector - a rubber one for the floor or do you mean to protect the rear bumper? I have two of the skoda OE rubber floor one's (1 in each car, not 2 in one car!) as superskoda (and others) sell... http://www.superskoda.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-Limousine-rear-trunk-RUBBER-cargo-mat-original-Skoda-Autoas-product - and I think they're good (can hose them off) but they also do standard carpet type.

Mud gaurds are a must, saves the paint work from stone chips.

Don't get contanental tyres there not good and very loud, if you have a choice, goodyear are top in my opinion. Good all round tyre, this is subjective subject I will admit.

And a skoda boot mat, there really thick rubber and saves the boot carpet.

Cool.

That's what I was thinking re mud guards. Wasn't planning on getting internal boot protector as haven't needed one in our Octavia Estate yet.

Contemplating bumper protector but not sure what colour would be best on quartz grey (if it's too similar colour it might look odd so thinking standard gloss black)?

Good info on tyres. Does anyone know what a new car come with as standard?

i think the vrs comes with continental tyres fitted unless you have the 19" wheels in which case its pirelli p zeros

My VRS is on the standard 18s and came with Bridgestone tyres.

Tyres will probably be whatever was cheapest in bulk at the time.

In my local dealers yesterday (first service) and all the brand new VRS's with Gemini's were wearing Bridgestones, as is my 15 plate VRS.

LED No plate lamps, VRS sill plates for the rear doors, Eibach/H&R springs to get the ride height correct and wheel spacers (20mm rear/15mm front) so the wheels sit correctly in the arch.

Obviously it's all down to personal taste, but all the above have threads running on this forum and quite common mods.

Even if you don't do any additional mods to the car, most of all enjoy

Thanks guys,

I assumed it would come with sill plates front and rear, but if only front then worth purchasing.

I'll take whatever tyres it comes with I guess.

Not sure about lowering it tho - what's the difference in comfort, handling but also does it affect insurance cost?

Thanks again

Rubber floor mats - way handier than the carpet ones that come standard.

Go for Bilstein B6's and Eibachs to get it lowered with an improved ride !! Best of both worlds :)

RGM sill & rear bumper protectors, much better than the Skoda ones & cheaper...

Weathertech mats, but ATM they only do the rears, because these are the same as the MK7 Golf....

Which they do a full set for, & worth every penny !!
