What's this?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Sorry for the newbie posts but while cleaning and generally checking my car out today I spotted this

I assume it's a breather or something similar, I've made a temp fix but can anybody shed some light on what it's called so I can buy a new one?

Cheers

Devonutopia is selling one of these give him a shout.

Will the split make a lot of difference?

Yes I believe it does I have a TDI so not certain.

That's the y-piece breather hose. Common for splitting. Can cause hesitation and generally running rough

Yeah replace it, engine won't run correctly with it like that. Chances are some of the Vacuum/boost pipes will have splits too. S pipe under the inlet manifold is notorious for splitting.

or just catch can it get rid of the pipe that way

I replaced it and the s pipe and now I get random hesitation when accelerating mainly in third.

Could it be MAF? No other symptoms, Rickover and general driving is fine

Do you have a VagCom? If you do try some logs and fault code readings, maybe the scanning will have something to say...
