Hi all. We have a Fabia 2 1.4 petrol on an 09 plate and it's making a strange noise when running. To me it sounds like a belt. Can anybody help via listening to this link https://youtu.be/rf5I3xR14os.

It might well be a belt if it needs changing or adjusting, has it had any maintenance or is and due?

Best ask a mechanic what it is.

Hi and thank you for the reply. Thats what I'm thinking. To be honest she has only just bought the car so we're not sure.

I popped round to my next door neighbour and he listened to it and reckons it could be the water pump bearing. I am going to take it to a garage tomorrow and see what they say and then take it back to where we got it from and get them to fix it

Its booked in this week to be fixed. Another guy reckons it's the water pump or something to do with a pulley.

Well. Just got it back and apparently that noise is normal for the engine that it is??

Well the noise started to get worse and we found out we were fobbed off (no surprise there) and it is indeed the waterpump. So its booked in for next Friday.
