Fuel filter for petrol cars

Featured Replies

Hi,

I did today major service for my Skoda Octavia 2005, they changed:

- Oil & filter
- Pollen filter
- Air filter
- Spark plugs (Petrol car)
- Brake fluid

Fuel filter wasn't changed since it's petrol not diesel, but as I know there is fuel filter even in petrol cars, right?

So should I change the filter bu my self?
When it should be changed usually, my mileage now 70,000

Thanks

I replaced the fuel filter on my 2008 petrol vrs when it was around 5 years old & had covered approx 55000 miles & the fuel was brown that came out of it so it was worth replacing in my opinion,if your car has never had one replaced then yes id say get it replaced. On my vrs the filter is underneath next to the fuel tank not sure what sort of octavia you have.

Did you find you riding for the cage holding the filter was corroded mikey?

If so did you just drill it out?

The retaining screw head had corroded away on mine so i had to drill off the head then remove the rest of the screw with mole grips then fit a new screw.

Mann or Mahle - both OEM VW suppliers and well regarded.

The last I fitted was UFI brand.  Appeared to be good quality and I believe they are an OEM supplier to VW as well.  It wasn't expensive either.
