Hi guys

 

My 2003 octavia VRS has devloped a random misfire and its currently under boosting. I've plugged the car into VCDS and the following fault codes have been given

 

P1200 boost pressure control valve ( N249 )

 

P0300 random / multiple cylinder misfire

 

P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire

 

any suggestions of things i should be looking at ?

Have you got the original Coilpacks as there is still an available recall on them, mine is a 2003 and is going into Skoda on Thursday to have them replaced. You could also do an N249 bypass

Coil packs would be prime suspect. A multiple cylinder misfire though could be a fueling issue. Start with finding out if you're eligible for coil packs recall though as suggested and rule it out for free.

I'm not sure if they are original or not to be honest, the car has covered 141000 miles now. The coil packs are at fault I've swapped the cylinder 2 coil pack to cylinder 1 and the misfire moved with it. I'll ring the dealer to find out about the recall.

The code on my coilpacks that have failed is 06B 905 115J skoda claim that these would have already been changed under the recall.

Due to the age of the car and mileage it wouldn't hurt to just buy a new set to prevent any issues in the future and it will make sure your getting the strongest spark possible. I bought a set from awesome GTI for my TT I think they were about £80 for the set.
