Laser 5751 rear brake rewind tool

Featured Replies

Just taken off my Yeti rear wheel and calliper to replace the rear brake pads and would like to check out with anybody in the know which way to rotate the piston back in?

Have looked on the DVD manual and that just quotes the tool number from Skoda.

As my universal tool has a LH thread and a RH thread on the other side which is the one to use?

Am I correct in saying that you screw in the piston from the front in a clockwise direction for both sides chaps. Checking as I do not want to take out the piston by mistake the wrong way as the pads are pretty worn out. Any help as the car is jacked up at the moment.

Just use in any (L/R) way, and look which way the piston is moving!!

Thanks Freedom Kristiansand

Great video and managed to turn back the pistons ok without to many problems. Rotation is clockwise from the front and remembered to loosen off the rubber boot gaiters first so that they would not twist when screwing back. Tool ok but as expected the pins are loose and do not make brilliant contact with the Yeti piston. A fixed one is the far better option to go with. Plus mine came in its plastic package from Amazon minus the tommy bar? Used a silver steel rod for better leverage by hand.

My callipers have on them VWAG TRW (slotted casting) and having read the tales of woe I thought that 70,000 miles would have worn the rear pads to the metal? Surprise surprise once out they measured 5.1mm and 5.5mm of actual pad material left on them. So I can only assume that regular greasing of the pins and the calliper contact points with the pads keeps the disks from tearing out the pad material on a Yeti. Must compliment the wife on her driving.

Thanks again to the helpful information , yet again Briskoda to the rescue quickly when the car is jacked up and not wanting to wreck a calliper.
