HPFP Cam Follower

Featured Replies

Hi all,

When I remove the IM to clean carbon buildup, should I inspect the HPFP cam follower? At 69k miles, what are the chances of it being worn to the point of needing replacement?

EDIT: it can be bought separately according to ETKA part#.  Does the new design with the roller fit the older pump design?

Cheers!

They all wear differently, for the sake of 30 quid it's worth changing it. I've never seen the roller design before

Unless I'm mistaken, it's the revised part, but I don't know if I need a new pump to fit it.  I don't even suspect that mine has failed but I know the original design is prone to wearing out.

I've just purchased one and fitted last week and it wasn't a roller one.

Is your engine the TSI or T FSI?

I guess all I can do is pull it out and take a look. I might have a go tonight.

TFSI

That's why then :D You have a different HPFP to the TSI :)

TSI doesn't suffer from cam wear issues

Thanks.  I was misinformed then.  I thought the first TSI HPFP had a flat follower, like the T FSI's, but was then later revised to use a roller.
