so after muchos reading i decided to go with a decat pipe get someone to weld in the sports cat. 

 

just spoke to a company who said they would make a decat section with flanges so i can put the std cat in for mot....

 

but for the most gains surely i would still need a bigger downpipe?  would it be pointless keeping standard downpipe#?    would i be better off getting a say toyosports decat of davemw!   getting them to cut that  and flange it?

Personally, I would`nt bother with a decat. I`ve gone for a bigger downpipe and sports cat on mine(ebay special) as I really could`nt be bothered with the hastle at MOT time.

You are spot on, the best gains are with a bigger downpipe, as this is what`s most restricting on a Mk1 vrs

yes..... previous owner tried it without, and said it was too loud... I wouldn't want it any louder than it is now!
