How to retrofit cd changer in mk1 vrs?

Featured Replies

Can anyone point me in the direction to a guide :) tried searching but I can't seem to find anything. I've just received a changer unit with the metal mounting bracket (unsure whether this is the octavia boot mounting bracket or whether able to be used in the fabia under seat retrofit?)

Thanks :)

I'd be interest to see how possible this is (I'm sure very) but I'm not sure how the CD changer gets its power etc...

Might be worth checking the wiring diagram for the radio and seing if it only gets wires direct from the back of it.

I seem to remember mine has a thin wide plug with around 5 wires.

I'm sure the blue plug on the left is for the CD changer, soon as you plug that in the cd changer switches on, and looking at the thicker red wire I'd say that's the live for it.

Poor pictures but it's all I have of my plug for the CD changer

I don't know about Skoda but my Alpine set up got its power from the head unit and my factory fit Renault changer was the same (maybe because it's an Alpine changer as well though).

I have the original changer under the passenger seat, its just disconnected... would this work with sony head unit? or only with standard radio unit?

Standard or some Panasonic/Grundig units iirc maybe Blaupunkt but all pretty old by now.

You already had a changer under the seat originally if the loom is there (believe it was standard on the SE).

I dont have a SE, and yes the changer / socket is there. Just wondering how i would use it again, or at least test if its working.
