Before i spend hours trawling the net how much of a job is changing a sidelight bulb on a pre facelift with zenons? If the headlamp is taken out and the wiring disconnected does the car store a fault code and leave the bulb illuminated on the dash? Ive had my hand round the corner of the headlamp but only managed to find the indicator bulb so far.

Advice much appreciated.

There are no issues with disconnecting the whole lamp unit as it is easier to do the the lamp removed from the car.

Just undo the plastic but, press down and pull the lever and the whole unit will slide out.
