petrol vs diesel VRS

Featured Replies

I am sure this is old hat but can anyone assist.

I am about to place an order for a vrs estate but am very tempted to hold out for the diesel vrs. When I ask the supplying dealer all I get is a blank stare ( either he really does not know or he is just thinking about the sale for this month) Does anybody know and is all that torque woth waiting for, or will the extra wieght over the front wheels send it into understeerr land at the first corner.

Come on people !!!!

Surely someone out there knows what is happening - IS THE DIESEL VRS COMING SOON?

I have been reliably informed by my dealer principle that a diesel version won't be avaliable until Sept 2006.

HTH

I suspect Skoda will get as much out of the petrol model as they can before launching the Diesel model -- may not even be till early 2007.

And even when it is launched -- you can bet it will be more expensive.

I was going to wait for the Diesel -- decided against as the 2.0TFSi is a cracking engine and I really don't do the mileage required to benefit from the extra MPG

Taken from a Belgian news site TODAY:

The diesel-engined Skoda Octavia RS will be launched in September 2006. The fast diesel being added to the existing 2.0 TFSI petrol engine, has a 170hp, 350Nm [you do the lb/ft math] 2-litre TDI engine. It will have both hatchback and estate versions.

Around 260 lb/ft!
