Dash cam installation?

Featured Replies

Has anyone fitted a dash cam in a mk3? Looking for instructions on how to remove the trim and any advice anyone can give me.

Hi, I have. It's a Mobius dashcam that runs off the 12v cigarette lighter socket.

A 5m USB cable goes from the cam (left of rearview mirror stem) up the middle of the windscreen. Then along and underneath the front lip of the headlining.

Then I pulled off the driver's side A-pillar trim and ran it down there. Saw a hole at the bottom and dropped the cable into there, which then came out near the foot pedals.

The cable then feeds through the trim that's above the pedals (from right to left), then down behind a bit more trim next to the centre console; finally into a USB charger adapter.

So the only trim that needed removing was the A-pillar. Very easy. I suspect I could have eased the edge away and slipped the cable into the gap.

Hope that helps.

Yeah it does thanks. How did you get the trim off? Any advice? Usually just pull up?

I pulled on both sides at the very top and it came out.
