Blanking EGR on 2010 1.6 tdi

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

I am new on this forum and was wondering if there are any possibilities to blank the EGR valves on a 2010 1.6 tdi? And is it okay to do on my own? I heard that the EGR are somewhat more hidden (backside of engine) on this engine?

I guess on this new engines there will be a electronic issue also if I blank, needing someone to clear it out via diagnostics?

My car is a 2010 Skoda Octavia 1.6 tdi 4x4 with 180 000km on it. I have blanked EGR on other cars I have owned and had very good experience with that :)!

I guess alot of you have blanked EGR on engine and maybe have som picture of the process?

Thanks alot!

You can blank it but the EGR needs to be mapped out so it doesn't bring up fault codes

Hey fellow norwegian!

I have the exact same car and already had to change it on warranty at 90.000km. Shop wanted 15000 NOK for the change (must be hell to change it on our CR 4x4...), luckily I was 1 month within my warranty - but I want keep my car and still avoid this again if possible. If you find out how to do it yourself, please hit me up on a PM. I want to get the same done to mine, maybe even the DPF if it prevents regeneration functionality.

There are some people in Agder that can program the ECU and keep the EGR closed at all times for about 6000 NOK. Not sure if that's my best alternative yet. They claim 40hk and 70nm increase with their software. Keep in mind though that Møller is soon fixing our cars with the air component and new software, so may wanna wait after that.

If you live in soutern norway I wouldn't mind getting in contact with you and talk car stuff.

Kind regards

Thanks for replies!

I have come across this EGR blanking set for the 1.6tdi: http://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-1-6-2-0-common-rail-egr-blanking-kit-and-egr-cooler-delete.html

Anyone have experience with this? I have not investigated my engine yet (havent got the time:)), but I belive that the EGR are pretty hard to get to.

SuperbTWM, you say the EGR needs to be mapped out? What exactly do you mean? It needs to be disabled with diagnostics? Who actually does this? I recon that VAG garages not want to do this.

Tank2600, I will be in touch!

Have a look at this company.
I have had the pleasure of having the Yeti remapped with a Shark Performance Stage 1 via their Mobile Team.
