Osram Night Breaker Unlimited H3

Featured Replies

Did any body try Osram night breaker unlimited H3 for the high beam head light of fabia 2003?

I have them in my car and there pretty good. Although it's the H7 version.

Whatever the bulb type you won't be disappointed with nightbreaker for the money.

They have a very short life though. 'The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long'. :p

True that but for the price they are on ebay they're worth it for the improvement. I'll be doing my full and dipped beam soon as the stock ones on the Ibiza are like candles.

I had a pair of those. One of them failed after 8 months of constant usage (day&night). I've replaced them with a pair of Philips Extreme Vision (on 4th of November last year, they are still working). I can't spot any difference compared to standard ones or the Osrams. IMHO, if the lenses are in good shape and the glass is clear, all halogen bulbs do about the same thing, maybe lifetime can do a difference.

So if it wasn't constant use and just night driving you'd have probably had at least 2 years use out of them? And no difference to standard? Sorry but I don't agree with that at all. They made a big difference to my Octavia...With crystal clear lenses

They certainly made a difference on my FABIA dipped beam with headlights that needed a refurb.

But I don't consider <500 hour lifetime as acceptable. (I.e. 9 months of commute, largely motorway)

I have them in the Superb in the mainbeam as the dip are Bi-xenon and they are a world better than the OEM halogen mainbeam that they replaced.

I just bought a pair of H4 "unlimited" for £12.59 on eBay.

I've put Nightbreakers (in the various guises - original, plus then extreme and finally unlimited) in various cars I've had and never been disappointed. The "originals" lasted 3 years (70k miles), and the "plus" I replaced them were still going when i sold the car another 3 years later. The "extreme" and "unlimited" are in classics, so difficult to comment on the longevity, but the light output is fantastic compared with the bulbs supplied in the cars.

I did notice that the do "advertise" the shorter life compared to standard bulbs on the back of the packaging, so it's not as if they're hiding it:

That looks like about 3/5 to me

The thing is they don't even burn twice as bright. The light output on the Nightbreakers is the same as a regular Osram bulb.

It's just the design of the bulb changes how the light output is applied.

I have used nightbreakers and they did not last 12 months, luckily I kept the receipt and got a replacement set but they also lasted less than 12 months, I have now got Philips X-treme vision and they are over 12 months old now.

I know they don't.

Or fit projector HIDs and never worry about bulbs again ;)

Amazing light output too

TPS have got a mega sale on high performance bulbs at the minute, if this is of use to anyone.

Oops, I meant to say euro car parts have the offer on. Not Tps.
