Fabia electric windows U/S

Featured Replies

We own a mint 2007 Fadia 3 with 39K on it but its front electric windows have decided to pack up. I have tried most things but no joy..

Tried swapping the 2 25 amp fuses, no difference but no real sign of corrosion or overheating.

Disconnect battery and try window reset procedure. Worked for a bit then stopped again.

Changed drivers door switch, made no difference.

Passenger side will work sometimes but sometimes not on the NS switch but not OS, driver side window worked for a bit after changing switch but stopped again the following day. Got switch swapped but no joy.

Diagnostic shows no faults so inclined to  think its not the central convenience computer or the door modules.

Any thing else I should try? Everything else works OK.

Windscreen was replaced by Autoglass 3 weeks ago and this problem has only started since then.

Both sides? Or does the passenger one open with its own switch?

I'm my case it was a broken wire under the runner gator where the door hinges.

I'm my case it was a broken wire under the runner gator where the door hinges.

Passenger side was working on its own switch but now it isn't. How does the grommet/bellows thing detach from the A post I had a prod but didn't want to force it and brake it. I think next step is going to be off with the door card and get the continuity tester out..

Don't bother, good chances are the wires from the door to the body are broke, had that happen to mine a few months back.

It's clipped in, either press the top with some force and pull or try the same but the bottom.

Spent 3 hours on it this afternoon and it looks like its the PCB in the OSF motor (motor itself works fine if you pull the pcb and give it 12 volts). Same motor as on Polo's T5 vans etc and sounds like a common failure. None on ebay either which means its going to be £150 ish for the part from VAG. Is nobody out there reworking the PCB's??

The wire in the door loom really often is the trouble with these cars. Have a look prior to spending bundles... Pull back the bellows in BOTH doors and carefully examine the wiring, making sure you check all wires as if you mis one, it'll invariably be the broken one. Sometimes they get a bit tucked up inside the bellow so get a real good look as this could save you a small fortune. You can do a temporary fix with a bit of extra wire and a bullet connector or two or get an auto electrician to solder a proper job if it is this. Even replacement of the loom might still be cheaper than motor replacement particularly if it turns out NOT to be the motor!

Hello, I have the same issue with my wife's 08 mark 2 Fabia. I've searched on hear a far bit and tried everything and still can't get the dam things working. I've repaired broken wires between the A post. Changed both switches as it looked corroded inside and change the drivers side motor/module! The good news the passenger side now works but the drivers doesn't, the drivers side switch dosent work the passenger side. Can't think of anything else to do any ideas much appreciated
