Hello from York, UK

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Been reading the forums for a while. I bought my first skoda, a secondhand 2010 Superb Greenline, in 2014. Loved it. Still love it. Am just awaiting delivery of a new Superb III. Thanks to all for the helpful advice that you share with each other!

Hi buddy and congrats on the new Superb, I bet you cannot wait

Thanks, yep v excited. first new car, albeit on pcp rather than buying outright. Is it normal to be nervous?

Hello and welcome. Congrats on your new one. That's nervous excitement I assume! We all experience that! What spec Superb did you go for?

Nervous since it's a lot of money I'm signing myself up for through PCP. I went for one which was already built - though I need to check they haven't sold me a demonstrator. It's the 2.0litre 190PS SE L in magic black with some extras on top...

I'll be fuming if I pick it up (although they told me it would be Tuesday and they haven't contacted me yet) and it's got more than delivery miles on the clock. I specifically told them I wanted a new vehicle - a demonstrator model is a used vehicle imo!

Welcome.

Hope you enjoy your new car... I'm sure you will!

Will keep an eye out for you.

Thanks Phiil, likewise! Always nice to see another Yorkist on the net - we live in a great part of the world!

So, today is the Day! Am so excited....no way I could get to sleep and time has slowed right down.. i can't pick it up till 5pm, but they might ring me sooner. It's having the autoglym interior and exterior application over the course of the morning/early afternoon. i was thinking of cancelling that element, but the interior and exterior application was just as -if not more- expensive elsewhere.

This is my first ever brand new car, and I have been reading the experience of others where they get a bottle of wine etc. Does DM Keith in york do that sort of thing? That would make a big difference to me, that level of service. I am likely to be a very loyal and lucrative customer if they treat me properly!

So exciting!

The autoglym stuff is good... if applied properly!

Can't comment on the bottle of wine as we only bought a used £8k car from them! lol

They were pretty good to us to be fair. We bought an approved used car with 12 month warranty from them. Had a few things done under warranty with no questions asked.

The only problem we did have was when they replaced the ignition switch under warranty and somehow managed to damage the ignition barrel even though they didn't need to remove the ignition to replace the switch. It then took nearly 7 weeks to order a replacement barrel but they did supply us with a courtesy car (an Ibiza FR estate 1.6 TDI) so we were at least mobile but they could not provide a like for like vehicle (ours is a DSG and the Ibiza was a manual but they had no DSG loan cars to give us).

They were very honest when we had the first service done and when we initially booked it in for a major service they said we didn't need to do that and just priced the items separately and saved us a few quid!

Suppose you'll be going for a drive later then!?

Whereabouts in York are you located? I'm in the Acomb area.

There's a few members in York actually. There's Harry in his matte black Octavia vRS (300+ bhp) and Roy that has an Octavia scout and a MK2 Superb. There's a couple of others I can't think of right now (Trevor vRS I think is another one).

Nice! I am just next to Acomb - by the Poppy Road primary school :)

Matte black octavia sounds nice....thought long and hard about getting a VRS but then decided I'd end up losing my license within a couple of weeks! I do a lot of travelling for work, so motorway comfort cruise was priority. I shall miss my Mk2 greenline superb, hooe it finds a good home :(

Just done my insurance transfer, cost me 113quid to the 15 july *sigh* I hear the insurance through Briskoda is good? Might see if they can beat admiral. Is there a briskoda car sticker or something?

Oh, and btw, DM keith put me in a leon xtrail once, then a skoda citigo? Quite a varied pool of courtesy cars it would seem! The citigo, for a big chap like myself, was terrifying. Had to drive alone with the window open so I could avoid having my arms crushed. Also, citigo is in no way fun to drive on the motorway....
