256mm Rear Brake Pad Size

Featured Replies

I've acquired a set of 256mm rear calipers and carriers off a Octavia vrs. I'm looking at getting new pads for them, however the only ones that are showing at the motor factors are the same ones that fit the smaller standard brake setup.

Seams mad to me that bigger brakes would use the same pads....

Am i missing something here or should the pads from the standard setup fit, just with the larger vented discs?

Cheers

The pads changed for the Octy 2003 model year, so if the kit you've got is from the later Octy then it's these pads you need, the difference between 239 and 256 is only 8.5mm on the radial measurement so not enough of a difference to affect the shape of the pad.

Cheers for that buddy, the car the came off was a 52 plate, so irl just grab the pads that the motor factors are suggesting and hope for the best :)

Yes.

These are what I have fitted (in the form of EBC Yellowstuff) to my Octy 256mm rears.

The pads are the same, they just sit further out on the bigger disc.

However genuine pad kits are different as they have new carrier shims in them which are wider as its a vented disc.

Cheers guys! The pads shall be the easy part, it will be removing the old carrier bolts that will be the problem!
