2 types of Ap coilovers?

Featured Replies

Are there two types of Ap coilovers? I was told there is a fatter Spring type with bigger shock piston and another version with slimmer springs and with a slimmer piston?

I was told the fatter version was better.

Any idea?

Never heard that myself, never seen 2 versions either.

Not one I've heard of relating to AP.

VMaxx have oversized dampers with thicker rods.

Hmmm interesting, does anyone have a pic of the springs that come on them? Are that a fat shaped spring or the slim type seen in the pics that they use on eBay? (I'm wondering if they're just generic pics)

Only one type of AP coilovers for the Fabia 6Y.

Cheers Damian do these have a fat spring or slim?

Can you explain what you mean by that? Are you mean the actual spring coil thickness or the way the spring has been wound?

Should be a progressive spring which I guess you could call fat.

Like that

Just incase, your not getting mixed up with the helper spring or somthing that some coilovers have?

There are stock pictures used when selling APs that have a dual linear spring setup. Perhaps that is whats causing the confusion? I don't think they do a setup for the Fabia like that though, its probably just a setup from another car.

Yeah sorry guys, I was just going off what I was told. The picture above shows what I am describing as a "fat" Spring.
