Advice needed regarding remote central locking

Featured Replies

hi guys,

Have done a big search on here but not found a solve for this issue yet. my remote central locking stopped working suddenly the other day. I unlocked it as usual in the morning, drove to a mates where i got out and locked it with the remote as usual, but realised i had left my windows down. i used the key in the door and held it in the lock position to bring the windows up and walked off. when i then went back to the car the remote locking wasnt working at all. still have the little led on the remote working so thought maybe i had pressed the buttons in my pocket by accident and the remote had forgotten the car. so i replaced the battery anyway and used VCDS to pair the remote with the car again and got a little beep from the alarm when i pressed the lock button as per the instructions on the ross-tech website. However the remote still isn't locking and unlocking the doors, getting no response from the car what so ever. i plugged my VCDS back in and went through the measuring blocks in group 46 where i couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. All door position sensors are checking back alright and the doors will all unlock and lock when pushing the buttons on the drivers door card as well as when using the key in the drivers door, this is reflected by the boxes on VCDS

The only way i can get a response from the car when pressing the buttons on the key fob are in the video below when im in 46-central convenience group 13:

happens with ignition on or off, the clicking is me pressing any of the 3 buttons on the remote and the boxes labeled immobilser "fixed" and "algorithm" change from "no value" to "Not OK". could just be normal but the "not ok" bit worries me

Any help with this would be appreciated, it wouldn't appear like the remote has turned faulty as the car still recognises it when pairing and in the measuring blocks on VCDS. Is there a switch or something in the door lock which would inhibit the remote locking if it got stuck open/shut? i never use the door lock usually, was just lazy on this occasion with the open window.

Thanks

Andy

Just incase anyone gets an issue like this in future... Bought a cheap replacement key from ebay on the off-chance it was that, coded it with vcds and hey presto! Its now working!
