Xenon Self Leveling Issue

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have a 2010 VRS with Bi-Xenon's, They do there little dance when i turn the ignition on but when i drive around the height doesn't adjust its self, ive plugged vcds in and there are no fault showing,

I drove around a bit with the laptop plugged in monitoring the sensors and noticed the height moves in mm and the top line on the picture % moved around but the middle % line doesn't move at all, am i right in thinking this is the actual Adjustment the car does to tell the headlights to move?

Sounds normal to me.

My xenon's, which are definitely adjusting height when accelerating or braking, showed the following when I logged them over a drive:

- Group 2, field 0 and 1 (Sensor Signal - Front (G78/G289) and Sensor Signal - Rear (G76/G77)) were changing.

- Group 2, field 2 and 3 (Actuator Motor - Left Headlight and Actuator Motor - Right Headlight) are the vertical (range) adjustment.

- Group 3, field 2 and 3 (Dynamic Cornering - Light Left and Dynamic Cornering - Light Right) are the horizontal (bending) adjustment.

- Group 4, field 0 and 1 (Sensor Signal - Front (G78) and Sensor Signal - Rear (G76)) remain constant, I think they may be the values from completing the basic settings.

- Group 4, field 2 and 3 (Movement - Front Suspension and Movement - Rear Suspension) were changing.

If you have a log of all the above fields and also vehicle speed (group 1, field 2) and steering angle (group 1, field 3) I'd be interested to compare it to the data I've logged.

I expect you also have xenon's rather than bi-xenon's unless you are running custom projectors with shutters as they were never an option for the FL Octavia :)

Had the same issue on mine the other week. Turned out the sensor had seized and snapped on the front. I did an adaptation on them first thinking they just needed resetting. They went back to normal height and seemed to move slightly. Turned out the link was sat down on the lower arm as it was snapped so once reset it was running of the bottom arm. Get your head under and have a look.
