Just been looking at mine as part of the never ending quest to trace reason for poor running and starting.

 

2008 Octavia 2  1.9 PD BXE

 

With everything off - valve is fully open.

Turn key to run - valve stays fully open.

Turn key back to off - valve briefly fully shuts then opens again then stays fully open.

 

Presuming this is OK but can anyone confirm?

 

Only thing making me question this is the video below (06 Jetta 1.9 TDI which I would expect to be the same) it makes it appear that after the switch off the valve cycles - closed open closed open closed open.
