Fabia Cuts out randomly

Featured Replies

Hi there I've been experiencing an intermittent problem with my Fabia. 99% of the time it drives fine but some days it will randomly cut out and won't start again because the light for the heater plug does not come on the dash. Leave 10/15 and it will start, but that's not always the case. Sometimes it can take hours or even days before it will work again.

After plugging my car into a diagnostics machine I got several fault codes.

Parking brake sensor

Instead ction service

Four wheel drive * which I don't have *

Central locking

And steering angle sensor?

We cleared the fault codes but we also noticed that upon every attempt the ECU was unresponsive,

It just wouldn't talk to the diagnostics machine.

I will admit I'm a complete noob and I haven't really tried anything as of yet,

What's the first steps I should take? This is my daily runner and I need to get her reliable again.

Thank you for any help you can give

Assuming you have access to VCDS go into 19 gateway. Then select 07 Coding and save the original soft coding. It's a common issue that confuses things as it thinks there are control units connected.

Then rescan and see what's left.
