Guess what ? Got my one-click today back in the post from AMD, (I know some people have had issues with the post but the turn around by AMD for me has been excellent!). anyway phoned my current insurers to confirm cover as I had already been in touch with them last week only to discover that they now refused cover!!! They say originally I stated it was a new ECU and now because I am saying remap they will not cover me ?? Elephant.co.uk is the insurer in question by the way...........

So I am all dressed up and ready to go with my one-click without a party in sight...........Anyone give me a few Insurance Names they know will be ok with the one click ? I know I could search around but I am so hopping mad I just wanna get on the phone and get some cover cos I should be out there driving!!!

Its like getting a xmas present when u were a kid only to find it didn't come with any batteries and all the shops were shut!! :D

Thanks in anticipation

understand ya pain mate. i had this prob with my dragon box. finaly got insurence threw zurich. they made a balls up to and quoted me a price for a standard vrs. so when i got my docs threw i rung up and conplained and managed to get insurance with box for same pricer as standard!! my lucky day ey!

i made the mistake with elephant of saying remap and they refused. Though second time i said it had been chipped they quoted but was way off.

Greenlight and Brentacre are both good for modified cars.

Thanks to you guys for replying so swiftly, just to let you all know DirectLine have agreed the mod (21 -30%) increase on bhp!! for a premium less than I would have paid with elephant (if they had honoured their original agreement). Elephant have agreed to not charge me their

Direct line ....chipped management sytem apparently............ but it only increases the power by 21% to 30% which fits in quite nicely

Don't Chis Knott do modified cars as well

Yep

Chris

Nice one

I have been insuring modified cars with Direct Line for years. They charge me +

Hmm, I wonder why they wanted to increase my premium effectively by 50% for a strut brace if they only charge

Chris Knott would not insure my old Saab despite being the Saab Owners Club affiliated insurer as it was too modified!!

I've found Adrian Flux and Autotorque (brokers) to be good. In fact, my modified Elise is currently insured via Autotorque for under £500 a year! Frizzell used to be the best as they did not load for any mod that did not effect engine size. Now, they don't want to know.

Direct Line generally seem very competative. I have insured two cars with them recently and both premiums were very resonable.

Zurich will let me have all the gear that's in my sig for a minor hike in premium and a little bit more 'own risk' - wouldnt accept any increase in bhp, be it chipped, ECU changed, or remapped.
