2 Faulty Superbs, that's me done!

Featured Replies

I thought i would just start of a fresh topic rather than commenting on old topics.

As most of you are aware I had a factory ordered 65 plate L&K which was nothing but trouble. After 5 months of complaining are 8 warranty claims with the car still being faulty, VW finance took the car back.

I slated the brand off and swore I wouldn't buy another.

I bought other in the end as it ticked all the boxes.

I bought a ex demo 65 plate 190dsg SEL Exec with 10k on the clock. I told the dealer my history and they assured me you couldn't be that unlucky to have to bad cars.

Well guess what...... In 3 weeks of me having the car it's been at my local dealer stripped down twice! Second time with the complete dash and steering off. They thought they found the fault but the noise was still there. The was not a buzzing noise but a clanging/rattling noise from the engine.

I was told by Skoda UK to take it to the dealer I purchased it from. I took it there last week and took the head tech out. Within 5 seconds he said this doesn't sound right. I took him for a 10 minute drive in which he said this car doesn't feel right.

Today the update is the car is being stripped, then put back together, then driven, then stripped, then put back together.....and so on.

I made the decision to take up the offer of the 30 day or 1000 miles money back guarantee. I cannot deal with this anymore and don't really fancy driving a 6 month old car that has stripped more times than a dancer in Spearmint Rhinos!

I'm in a loan car which is a basic 16 plate Octavia Petrol DSG and it's a dream! So quite and smooth. It just proves how bad the Diesel engines are.

I'm not going to buy another Superb purely on the basis I have had 2 bad cars which have cost me allot of money, stress and time.

Good luck with yours guy and i genuinely hope no one goes through what I have.

Whilst I feel for you and the problems you've had - this is harsh to say the least, was it proven it was the engine?

There are many owners (me included) who haven't had an issue with their diesel Superb.

What I mean is how bad diesels are in comparison to petrol.

Buy a TSI instead. Quiet and smooth. No rattles or anything.

I don't blame you Tony.

I'd have walked away after having one bad car...

@GaSelle

2.0 TSI not so much quieter than previous 2.0CRDi in Hyundai Sonata, definitely louder than in demo Superb 2.0 TSI

I disagree. Yes the diesel engines have got less reliable due to emissions control such as EGR, DPF and SCR, but you can't turn a blind eye to all the oil consumption problems, cam chain problems, HPFP cam wear and complete engine replacements that go on when you own a Petrol variant. At least the fundamentals of the diesel engine are strong.
