How do you adjust non-xenon headlamps ?

Featured Replies

Which part of the headlamp to I twist/turn move to adjust the vertical and the horizontal settings ?

And before any masters of the bleed1ng obvious start posting ; yes the height adjuster is set to ' - ' on the dash, but the beams are slightly too low

I don't know what the procedure is for the Octavia II but I do know what it is for the Felicia. That car's headlights can be adjusted individually using the thumbwheels which are fitted to the top of each headlight unit. The outer one alters the headlight beam vertical aim and the inner one the horizontal aim. The headlight beam adjuster should be set to position 0 before the headlight aim is adjusted. This might work for the Octavia II as well so why not give it a try?

Can't say I saw the adjusters when I removed my headlights to change out the bulbs. Not sure why your adjustment isn't right though. Have you tried different lamps. Osran Silverstaers are great value. You can get a set for about £15 and they really improve the cutoff and range of the beams

I picked up my car a while ago but not done much night driving. However when I went out at the weekend with the adjuster set to '-' the headlights were practically parallel to the road! I've used the adjuster in the car to 3 to move it downwards but having read the above I'll now look for the thumbwheels on the headlight unit (cheers DGW ).

Can anyone please tell me what this should be set to, eg if I'm parked 2 feet from a wall how far from the bottom of the wall should the headlights point??

Cheers,

Balham
